Is Bio-Oil suitable for Sensitive
Skin?
Also, according to a study in 2016,
an ingredient in Bio-Oil, linalool, is considered to cause allergy in some
people.
If you have a sensitive skin, carrying
out a skin patch test is very important before adding any new skincare product
to your routine. Before starting regular use, apply some Bio-Oil on your
forearm and wait some hours. If you experience skin irritation, do not use it
on your face.
What does the product claim?
Bio-Oil claims to help improve the
appearance of skin marks (both new and old), Maternity skincare; promotes
elasticity during pregnancy and helping to keep the skin, healthy supple and moist,
hyperpigmentation (uneven skin tone) for both dark and light skin types, Helps
smooth and tone aging and wrinkled skin
on both the face and body, helps retain skin moisture.
Is Bio-Oil really good for improving
scars?
In 2018 a study was performed on 80
people and Bio-Oil showed a 14 percent better diminution in scars and stretch
marks when compared to an untreated area.
The results from the study show the
following effects on participants:

mentioned their scars and stretch marks are less visible now

Another Clinical Study was carried
out in 2012 at China's Peking University, on people with newly developed acne
scars, 84% of participants reported an improvement in the appearance of their
scars after using Bio-oil twice a day for about 10 weeks.
How did the product work for me?

I have been using bio oil for about
6 months now and my scars seem to become lighter. I use it 3-4 times a day on
scars, and as a moisturizer, on the face and hands, in the morning and before going
to bed.
My face does feel a lot softer and
hydrated. It hasn't been irritating my skin and has a very nice smell. Everyone
reacts differently to every product however, for me, this product is helping to
significantly improve my acne and surgery scars.
Although it contains essential oils
for me it does not affect the healing of acne.
Some other ways to use Bio-oil
Bio-Oil is mainly made to reduce the
appearance of scars and hydrating skin but I have discovered some other ways
which gave me a very good result.

works great as a makeup prep. Put it before applying your primer to lock
moisture keeping your skin hydrated and ready to apply foundation

hand moisturizer.

I have
also used this in some DIY scrubs.

I
apply this on my face before using a razor to prevent razor burns.

As a
moisturizer for cracked heels.

for
massaging under eye dark circles.

To
remove heavy makeup from the face.

use it for all types of scars (surgery, cuts ,burns , acne)
